The vision and mission of BM-P in Kwidzyn

Goals and tasks of the Municipal-District Library in Kwidzyn

  1. The library is a local government cultural institution with legal personality, organized by the Municipality of Kwidzyn,
  2. The library is part of a nationwide library network. As a district library, it supervises the content of local government libraries in the district and is subject to the supervision of the provincial library.

The vision of the Municipal-District Library in Kwidzyn:

Hybrid library – combining traditional forms of activity (sharing collections, providing information, cultural and educational activities) with new technologies (digitization of collections, virtualization of library services, Multicentre), where both forms are intended to interact with each other and complement each other.

The library as a “third place” is a concept consistent with Ray Oldenburg’s sociological concept, which posits the existence of a “third place” alongside home (the first place) and work (the second place), as well as a “third place” for leisure activities. This place should be a space for active participation, fostering cultural and social values.

An open library – inviting you to cooperate and participate in activities that go beyond the library walls.

The mission of the Kwidzyn Municipal-County Library is to meet the needs of the local community in providing knowledge, culture, information (including those based on new technologies), and library collections. It also ensures the high quality of the products offered (a current and valuable book collection, high-quality cultural library events) and services (a staff undergoing continuous training). It promotes books and reading. It shapes and preserves regional culture and traditions by organizing exhibitions, literary competitions, author meetings, and other forms of popularizing knowledge. It shapes a model of civic society by initiating the self-organization of active and creative groups of residents through library facilities. It familiarizes children, youth, and adults with the world of technologies they will use in the future. It enriches knowledge acquired in schools and develops thinking and creativity.

Common Questions About Our Library Services

How much is the fine for an overdue book?

The program automatically calculates penalties for such items. It will be 10 groszy (for each overdue item) for each day of delay (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as well). The penalty is rounded to full złoty.

Yes. A card is not required when returning items.

Changing the return deadline of a book (extension) is possible if the deadline has not already been exceeded and if there is no reservation for the given item.

The reader can reserve a maximum of 3 books at one location. Ordered items must be collected within 3 days.

You should contact the nearest library immediately (in person or by phone). Blocking the lost card will prevent another person (the finder!) from borrowing books on your account. Getting a new card involves a fee of PLN 5.
