Study visit to Brussels

From November 13th to 15th, the team from the Kwidzyn Municipal and District Library had the great pleasure of participating in a study visit to Brussels as winners of a competition for the best activities promoting Poland’s 20th anniversary in the European Union for public libraries in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Together with librarians from the Łeba Municipal Library and the Pruszcz Gdański Municipal and District Public Libraries, we spent three intense days full of inspiration and new experiences.

Our visit began with a meeting at the Pomeranian Voivodeship Regional Office in Brussels, home to the Pomeranian Association in the European Union. We then traveled to the House of European History, where we had the opportunity to delve deeper into the shared history of our continent. The next day was spent at the European Parliament. We had the honor of meeting Bogdan Zdrojewski, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Education and Culture (CULT), with whom we discussed the future of libraries and culture in Europe. We also visited the parliamentary library and met with staff from the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS), learning about their work. Friday: We visited the modern Muntpunt library, established at the initiative of the Flemish Community and the Flemish Regional Government. It’s a place full of innovative solutions and ideas that we would like to implement in our own country! The trip was incredibly inspiring and motivating. We thank everyone who contributed to its organization! At every opportunity, we proudly spoke about the values and attractions of our city and county, as well as about the activities of our library.
